MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Claims ‘Awesome Win’ After Losing Defamation Trial
By Jake Beardslee · June 18, 2025

In a defamation trial that ended with a $2.3 million judgment against him, MyPillow CEO and Trump ally Mike Lindell still declared victory. Despite the jury ruling that he defamed former Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer—calling him a “traitor” and promoting unsubstantiated conspiracy theories—Lindell reportedly texted Rolling Stone: “Awesome win! MyPillow 100% innocent!!!!”
The trial centered on Lindell’s public claims linking Coomer to an alleged effort to rig the 2020 presidential election against Donald Trump. These accusations were found to be defamatory by the jury. Although the jury awarded Coomer $2.3 million, far less than the $26.7 million his legal team sought, Lindell appeared unfazed. “My fight to get rid of the machines will continue on stronger than ever!” he added in the same message.
Before the trial, Lindell had expressed eagerness to testify. “Of course I’m gonna testify at my own trial! I have nothing to hide. I am a former crack addict; I’ve always been open about that… I’m as transparent as they come,” he told Rolling Stone in May.
Charles Cain, one of Coomer’s attorneys, said the jury’s decision reflected the constitutional threshold for defamation. “We met the highest constitutional standard under the First Amendment and that occurred in large part because Mr. Lindell claimed he had evidence of voter fraud by Dr. Coomer when he had none,” said Cain.
This trial marks only the beginning of Lindell’s legal troubles. He still faces defamation suits from both Dominion and Smartmatic, with Dominion seeking $1.3 billion in damages. Smartmatic has yet to specify an amount, leaving it to the court’s discretion.
