‘Corrupt as Hell’: Trump Blasts Newspapers Over His Polling
By Jake Beardslee · June 6, 2025

President Donald Trump sharply criticized The New York Times and The Washington Post early Friday, accusing them of publishing “rigged” polls that misrepresent his approval ratings. In a Truth Social post, Trump labeled the newspapers as “corrupt as hell” and claimed their surveys disproportionately sampled Democrats, rendering them biased against Republicans.
“The Failing New York Times and the Washington ComPost, two ‘papers’ that have ruthlessly fought me for years, have each done Polls where a vast majority of those sampled are Democrats,” Trump wrote. “In other words, the Polls, just like their writings, are RIGGED — It is not possible for a Republican to do well in such a Poll! They are ‘corrupt as hell.’”
Despite some recent polls indicating a decline in his approval ratings, with figures as low as 39% according to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, Trump asserted that “real Polls” show him performing better than ever. He cited his 2024 election victory as evidence of his popularity, stating, “JUST LIKE ELECTION DAY, 2024, where I WON seven out of seven Swing States, the Popular Vote, and Districts by 2,750 to 505.”
He concluded the post by writing, “I won the Election in a landslide! The Fake News Media is Failing Our Nation at levels never seen before. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
