ESPN Jeopardy! Is Coming to Disney+ and Hulu With Joe Buck

By Curtis Jones · April 26, 2026

Jeopardy! is going to sports — and Joe Buck is going to be asking the questions.

Disney has greenlit ESPN Jeopardy!, a sports-themed spinoff of the iconic game show, with veteran broadcaster Joe Buck attached as host. The series is set to air across ESPN, Disney+, and Hulu, giving it one of the widest multi-platform distribution footprints of any game show in recent memory.

The premise adapts Jeopardy!’s familiar answer-and-question format to an all-sports context — categories, clues, and contestants all centered on athletics, with the full tournament structure the flagship show is known for. ESPN has not yet announced a premiere date, episode count, or contestant eligibility details.

Buck is a natural fit for the format. The longtime NFL and baseball play-by-play broadcaster spent two decades at Fox Sports before moving to Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football coverage in 2022, where he has called games alongside Troy Aikman. His voice is one of the most recognizable in American sports broadcasting, and his comfort in front of live audiences and cameras — managing timing, tension, and quick-turn commentary — maps well to the demands of game show hosting.

The show joins a growing slate of Jeopardy! extensions that Sony Pictures Television, which produces the flagship series, has been developing as it works to extend the brand beyond the original daily syndicated format. Celebrity Jeopardy! has aired on ABC since 2022. Jeopardy! Masters, a high-stakes tournament featuring top champions, has run on ABC and streaming platforms. ESPN Jeopardy! would be the first sports-specific iteration and the first with an ESPN broadcast anchor.

For the 45+ audience that represents the core of both Jeopardy!’s viewership and ESPN’s primetime demographic, the crossover has obvious logic. The original show has been the top-rated syndicated program in the United States for decades, drawing heavily from viewers who are also avid sports fans. A format that combines trivia fluency with sports knowledge plays directly to that overlap.

No premiere date has been announced. More details on format, tournament structure, and how to apply to be a contestant are expected from Disney in the coming weeks.
